John Stuart Mill, in order to protect science, carriedempiricism to its extreme sceptical consequences, and thereby cut theground from under the feet of all science.—Professor Otto Pfleiderer, D.D.

The word of our God shall stand for ever.—Isa.xl. 8.

Imagination is wholly taken captive by the stupendous revelation ofthe God-force which modern conceptions of the Cosmos furnish. Throughthe whole universe beats the one life-force, that is God, controllingevery molecule in the petal of a daisy, in the meteoric ring of Saturn,in the remotest nebula that outskirts space, as though that moleculewere the universe. In each molecule and atom God lives and moves andhas His being, thereby sustaining theirs …. Prophet afterprophet cries, and psalmist after psalmist sings, that so indeed he hasfound it; that therein is the divine sonship of man, therein theassurance of eternal life.—Rev. R. A.Armstrong.

The living man with his interior consciousness of self andindividuality is on two planes of nature at once, as a ship is in twomedia at once, half in the water and half in the air. To manage yourship successfully you must take cognizance of the laws governing eachof those media. To deal successfully with your human being you mustunderstand his physiology no doubt, but you must equally understand hispsychology, and something of the collateral phenomena of nature inthose regions or planes to which the phenomena of the psychic manbelong.—A. P. Sinnett.

The splendid generalizations of our physicists and our naturalists, have had for me an enthralling and entrancing interest. I find as Ilook out on the world, in the light of all this new knowledge, apressure of God upon consciousness everywhere; and if this physicalforce which is God, moves through, sustains, communes, with eachsmallest physical atom of the whole, much more must that consciousenergy which is God, move through, sustain, commune with, theseconscious atoms, these several monads, which are you and I, and ourfriend, and our brother far away. The even flow of the divine forcethrough every material atom, which is the supreme revelation ofphysical science in our time, itself leads irresistibly on to thesuggestion of the constant flow of spiritual energy in actual communionwith every spiritual monad that there is. It becomes but a question ofopening the eyes of the soul, unstopping the ears of the inward spirit,to see and hear the God who in us also surely lives and moves and hasHis being, thereby sustaining ours. As the physical atom is physicallytouched and held and thrilled by God, it is what we should expect thatthe conscious monad, no less should be consciously
