ARISTOTLE’S MASTER-PIECE.
At the present time, when so many of the female sex,in the hour of Nature’s extremity, depend solely uponthe skill and practical experience of the Midwife, weregard every attempt to assist the female accoucheurin her difficult, and sometimes dangerous operation, asa blessing conferred upon society.
This treatise enters fully into every department ofMidwifery; and lays down excellent rules, and proposesvaluable suggestions for the guidance of the femaleoperator, which, if acted upon, will not only redoundto the credit of the practitioner, but will be of immensebenefit to those operated upon. Another valuable featureof this work is, that it contains important directionsfor the guidance of child-bearing women duringthe time of their pregnancy: how they should conductthemselves with regard to regimen, medical treatment, and other matters, each month, until the time of theirdelivery. In short, we venture to assert that if thecounsel and advice given in the Experienced Midwifebe strictly adhered to by all parties interested therein, the travail in child-birth, instead of being many timesdifficult and dangerous, will be safe, speedy, and comparativelyeasy.
