In introducing this Directory, in acheap and comprehensive form, to our numerous subscribers, veryfew comments are necessary. Great inconvenience is felt inall large districts through not being able at a moment’snotice to discover the place of abode of various individuals,such as customers, friends, &c. To obviate this hasinduced us to attempt the compiling one of a pure localcharacter, at a price within the means of all classes. Wetrust we have succeeded in completing a work which cannot fail ingiving satisfaction to our subscribers. It is our intentionto publish annually, and doubt not, as we become more acquaintedwith the locality, being enabled to establish a work which willbecome thoroughly useful as a book of reference.
