When Bob Somers and his four friends, ofKingswood, Wisconsin, formed the RamblerClub they probably had little idea of thenumerous and exciting adventures which werebefore them. These are related in: “TheRambler Club Afloat,” “The Rambler Club’sWinter Camp,” “The Rambler Club in theMountains,” “The Rambler Club on Circle TRanch,” “The Rambler Club Among theLumberjacks,” “The Rambler Club’s GoldMine,” “The Rambler Club’s Aeroplane,”“The Rambler Club’s House-boat,” “TheRambler Club’s Motor Car,” and “The RamblerClub’s Ball Nine.”
The present book carries them to the greatNorthwest Territories, patrolled by that famousbody of men known as the Royal NorthwestMounted Police. Their intention was to campout, to see the country, and to meet their old-timefriend, Jed Warren, of Circle T Ranch,Wyoming, who had become a member of[4]the force. The lads’ plans, however, arethoroughly disarranged at the start by an unwelcomesurprise, and their energies are immediatelyturned into other channels. Theydo see a great deal of the country, and are alsomixed up with some of the affairs of the“riders of the plains.” In a great measurethis is brought about through the agency ofbig blond Larry Burnham; and the astonishingevents which follow an apparently trivialoccurrence surprise the lads as much as theydo the Royal Northwest Mounted.
In “The Rambler Club’s Football Eleven”is told the interesting experiences of the clubat the Wentworth Preparatory School. Here, again, many unexpected things take place.
