p. vThe Author of the present work wishes tostate that the Vocabulary, which forms part of it, has existed inmanuscript for many years.  It is one of severalvocabularies of various dialects of the Gypsy tongue, made by himin different countries.  The most considerable—that ofthe dialect of the Zincali or Rumijelies (Romany Chals) ofSpain—was published in the year 1841.  Amongst thosewhich remain unpublished is one of the Transylvanian Gypsy, madeprincipally at Kolosvār in the year 1844.
