The texts contained in the present volume are reprintedwith very slight alterations from the EnglishGarner issued in eight volumes (1877-1890, London,8vo) by Professor Arber, whose name is sufficientguarantee for the accurate collation of the textswith the rare originals, the old spelling being inmost cases carefully modernised. The contents ofthe original Garner have been rearranged and nowfor the first time classified, under the generaleditorial supervision of Mr. Thomas Seccombe.Certain lacunae have been filled by the interpolationof fresh matter. The Introductions are whollynew and have been written specially for this issue.
