PREFACE

This is a book of pictures and stories for big children andsmall grown-up folks; for all who love Sinbad the sailorand his strange country. It is a topsy-turvy book; thereis no order about the chapters; and you can begin to readit anywhere. It is intended to give a bird's-eye view tothose who cannot take birds' wings. The stories are notas good as those of the Arabian Nights but the morals arebetter—and so are the pictures. Moreover the stories aretrue. You must not skip any of the chapters or the picturesbut you may the preface, if you like.
