This book has been written to telllittle girls how much fun it is tolearn to sew and make pretty things for theirdolls, themselves, and other people. Ofcourse, as Sir Bodkin says, “We can’t havegains without pains,” but it is much pleasanterto learn in play how to do things theright way. This makes it easier for us whenwe are grown up, because we have theknowledge “at our finger-tips.”
I hope that mothers, teachers, and thoseinterested in girls will find this book helpful,as my experience has been that childreneagerly grasp and absorb facts presented instory and rhyme.
A number of these sewing-lesson stories6have appeared in the Modern Priscilla Magazine.Acknowledgment is here gratefullymade for permission to use them.
